TPS: Tool-Guided Planning Subagents for Agent Harnesses
Plans written by an LM agent are imperfect, and under a limited action budget one mistake can make the task unfinishable. TPS externalizes planning into a tool: subagents build a graph of predicted futures through a tool call, and an external solver selects a path that fits the budget.
